07:08 pm: success!... sort of
As promised, I sat outside the BBC studios all day, bothering every person on their way in or out.  Finally, I got somewhere... this woman who works as sort of an assistant station-manager said she might be able to get me an interview for an unpaid internship position.  It would be a really menial-task, gofer sort of thing, but I don't mind.  It would be awesome.  And since my hours at the theatre are so late, it wouldn't conflict and I'd be able to keep working to make my living.
Wish me luck!!

10:16 pm: not much has changed
Still working at the theatre. It's not a bad job all in all. Kinda boring after a while tho. I've been seeing less and less of anything interesting, since they have me come in and clean up when nobody's rehearsing.
Tomorrow I am marching my American ass over to Marylebone High Street and sitting outside of the BBC studios until somebody lets me in.

And Basil, this jumping mugger you've been talking about sounds an awful lot like Spring-Heeled Jack. He's an urban legend from Victorian London. I personally like the theory about him being an alien stranded on earth having an existential crisis.

08:53 am:

I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!

No, not one at the BBC.  Yet.  *sigh*  But it's a wage, and it's a place to stay, and all that.  So I'm a little more secure now.  Lissa's aunt and uncle are letting me stay in their greenhouse for a low rent, which is fantastic.  (I've bought some cheap blankets and hung them around the walls for privacy, and put down some matting on the floor).  It's kind of silly, but I've always wanted to live in someone's greenhouse, especially in the British Isles, since I read The Hounds of the Morrigan.  It's a great book, by the way, if you haven't read it.  As for the job, this theatre hired me as a janitor/odd-job person.  It's not really official, obviously, since I don't have a work visa... (shhh!!!)  And they don't pay me a whole lot, but it's enough to pay the rent on my greenhouse and buy some food.  The food here's pretty terrible;  I've been mostly living on peanut-butter-and-honey sandwiches, thin soup and beans.  But I'm not complaining.  Here I am in England, and I've got a job and a place to stay!  Hooray!

Also, working at the theatre is really cool because I get to see all these brilliant actors rehearsing.  Not that I get to hang around and watch, of course, but I'll see sometimes when I'm picking up programs people've left behind or carting random objects up to the stage.

Signing off,

~Zandy.

PS Oh and Basil, watch out for the boogeyman, eh?

12:44 pm: first entry
Hi Everybody!
Well, here I am in London.  I got a sweet deal on the flight from my former college (they don't know they're "former" yet, hahahaha)... and I have just enough money to last me a few weeks in a hostel.  I'm hoping to get a job at the BBC, but if I don't soon I'll have to find something else... any of you blokes need a babysitter?  I'm good at reading out loud!
Right now I'm at a public library, and I can only use the computer for fifteen more minutes so this will be short.
My big brother (Big Brother, seriously) is worried about me getting along here so this journal is partly to let him know I'm still alive.  Holla, Basil!  X^P
Aahh... the librarian's giving me dirty looks (the computers are supposed to be for research only).  My shoes are falling to bits, I'm hungry, and the hole in my skirt is getting bigger every day.  Here's hoping for a job... I'm going to go bother people tomorrow.
Wish me luck, loves!
